2.3.12 Biological Weapons Convention 1972

There have since been moves to prohibit the possession of bacteriological weapons, but not the possession or manufacture of chemical weapons. The 1972 Convention5 Preamble also places the prohibition in the context of "achieving effective progress towards general and complete disarmament, including the prohibition and elimination of all types of weapons of mass destruction".
